We recognize that the climate crisis is fundamentally a water crisis; this situation requires us to increase resilience while supporting the sustainable growth of both our business and the communities we serve.
Our strategy is built on four core pillars: operations, supply chain, communities, and advocacy. This approach allows us to offer a holistic framework that integrates water, climate, people, and nature into our strategy. Within this framework, we aim to create a measurable and net positive impact on freshwater resources for the communities and ecosystems within our activities, supply chains, and markets.
In Priority Water Basins such as the Gediz Basin, we work to support the improvement of water access, water availability, and water quality through collective action platforms that bring together public, private, and local stakeholders, and we support the development of projects to create a net positive water impact on a basin basis.
The "Joint Action to Improve Fertilizer Management and Water Efficiency" (GYSU) initiative is a valuable collective action project that stands out in this context, and it is a project we are pleased to be a stakeholder in. In order to contribute to the solution of the problems of the Gediz water basin, the activities carried out within the scope of the GYSU project—which can be defined as teaching and disseminating the use of fertilizers in viticulture in accordance with the "right fertilizer, right time, right place, and right amount (4R)" principle—include:
- the design of the stakeholder dialogue platform,
- the creation of the GYSU website,
- training, soil and water analysis, and
- production studies to be carried out in pilot regions, which are activities we closely follow and support.
Our expectation is the proliferation of collective action initiatives like GYSU and contributing to the solution of the Gediz Basin problems.
